Cancelling your gym membership: Your rights

Questioner

I've been a member of a gym since January 2019. My first year was an all-inclusive membership, and as of January of this year, I switched to a weekly membership, meaning I only work out once a week. I want to cancel this membership now. However, according to the gym, by switching from an all-inclusive to a weekly membership, I've created a new one that will tie me to it for another year. I consider this membership a modification to an existing one. I'm now stuck with a membership that's useless until January of next year. If I hadn't switched my membership from all-inclusive to weekly in January, I could have canceled it monthly. Is this even possible?

Questioner

Yes, if this new subscription was concluded under different conditions because, for example, it is cheaper or additional services are provided.
