Applying for rent benefit: is it possible?
Questioner
I currently live in a studio apartment and would like to apply for housing benefit. My studio apartment meets the requirements for a shared floor. - private kitchen and bathroom. - be able to lock your own space. There are 3 other studios in the house, each with its own rental contract. However, we all have the same house number. Gas/water is included in the price, there is a shared meter. The house is structurally divided and not cadastral. Can all three residents apply for rent allowance? Furthermore, all residents meet the conditions for receiving housing benefit.Questioner
In that case, the landlord doesn't have a permit to rent three independent units, but you are still entitled to benefits because you rent a separate dwelling, even though you share a front door. The tax authorities need to know that in this case, it's a divided dwelling. And by that, they mean a physically divided dwelling into independent units, even though a permit hasn't yet been issued. Incidentally, it's possible that a permit won't be issued based on the zoning plan and policy, but that's more the landlord's problem.Take the next step
