Puppy Deposit: Rights and Advice
Questioner
Good day, I have a question about a deposit we made for a puppy. We made a deposit for an unborn puppy. The deposit was €200. Now that the owner's puppies have been born, we're unfortunately not convinced. We were hoping for a dark-colored puppy, but that's not available. So, we informed the owner in a timely manner that we wouldn't be taking one of his puppies after all. Now he refuses to refund the €200 deposit, even though we made the deposit without any guarantees about the puppies. Is he within his rights? Can he refuse to pay back those 200 euros? Kind regardsQuestioner
If you agreed that the puppy's color was the deciding factor in the purchase, the seller must return the deposit. If you assumed you were getting a dark puppy when this wasn't agreed upon and was uncertain, you won't automatically get your deposit back. I recommend reaching a deal with the seller or accepting the puppy anyway. If you can't reach an agreement and a legal dispute arises, please contact me immediately for consultation.Take the next step
