Liability for Credit Card Misuse

A family member misused her father's credit card and racked up a substantial debt; now the man has passed away, and this has come to light. Money was secretly withdrawn from his account, and the credit card was used unauthorizedly. Can this person now be held liable?

If the latter is the case, it will have to be demonstrated that the deceased "pocketed" the money. If this is the case, liability may follow, and the deceased cannot be an heir.
