What may be the height of a fence placed on a property boundary?

Questioner

I want to place posts on my own land, in my own garden, against the property boundary in my front garden, with a wire fence attached to it to let greenery grow against it. The length is 5 meters and the posts will be placed in the border that is ± 30 cm high. How high can I make the posts/fencing without getting into trouble. What may the total height (incl. border) be?

Lawyer

This is determined in the zoning plan, a maximum of one meter. Not higher than the property boundary either.

Questioner

If I understand your answer correctly, a property boundary may not be higher than 1 meter. My posts may therefore not protrude more than 70 cm above my border. And may I then place a pergola, for example, and if so, to what height?

Lawyer

Normally a pergola would be seen as garden furniture and that may be 2.5 meters high. However, if you use it as a separation then it will also be treated as such. In the municipality's aesthetic requirements, further rules can be set on how a front yard may look, this can also lead to a ban on, for example, a pergola.
