Can an employment contract be amended unilaterally?
Questioner
Dear, I quit my job at the beginning of January (14 hour contract). Before I signed anything, they removed me from the payroll systems. They assumed that this was effective immediately. I understand that this is beneficial for my boss, but I wanted to agree on an end date. We have now agreed on February 5. Since January, I have hardly been scheduled and yesterday I saw on my January pay slip that it says on-call worker instead of certain hours (14 hours) and they only paid me for the hours worked. Does this fall under the unilateral contract adjustment or dismissal change or something? I have a collective labor agreement for retail non-food, but I could not find anything there. Thank you in advance!Lawyer
You are employed for 14:00 hours per week, your employer cannot simply change that, not even in view of the termination of the relationship. If you were previously scheduled for 14:00 hours per week, you can claim payment for 14:00 hours per week.Questioner
