Landlord wants to change contract and increase rent after my boyfriend moves in with me

Questioner

I have been living with a roommate since December 2020. We are both co-tenants and each pay half of the rent. Now my roommate is moving out and my boyfriend is coming to live with me. Now the landlord says that he is terminating the current contract and will draw up a new one in my name and my boyfriend's. And that he is going to determine a new rent (he did not say how much but that it will be higher!). Is this allowed just like that? We have only been renting for a year and in July the legal increase was already added. I would like to know if this is allowed just like that. Thank you in advance!

You can also remain the main tenant without your friend acquiring rights as a co-tenant, then I do not see why the rent may be adjusted. Furthermore, you can also submit the rent increase as proposed or the refusal to accept your friend as a co-resident or co-tenant to the judge. Because this is a free sector home, knowledge of the provisions in the agreement is important for a conclusive answer.
