Accepting resignation during illness?

Questioner

I started another job on January 11, 2021, after unexpectedly not getting a contract extension from my previous employer at the end of December. On Monday, March 8, I had a mental breakdown on the way to work and immediately called in sick. I also immediately made an appointment for the next day with my GP's practice nurse, conclusion: overstrained and first take a rest and then see what happens next. My employer says he believes me and does not want to put any extra pressure on me, but I have to help him by accepting resignation or termination of my 6 Monday contract. He wants this by the end of this month of March. I still haven't really calmed down and I can't really see the situation with regard to what happens next, I need more rest. Maybe I am not entitled to unemployment benefits at all if I accept resignation? I would like advice on this.

If you are ill (unable to work), agreeing to dismissal is very unwise. You run the risk of not receiving benefits. Furthermore, you will lose your job (and therefore your income). If you would like to discuss your case, please feel free to contact us without obligation.
