Can I claim my deposit back?

I bought a batch of decorative tiles and gave €250,- handheld. Because I could not foresee that it is not possible for me to remove the tiles myself and transport them, (it concerns 60 square meters) over 24km, that is why I cancelled the case. My question is whether I can claim the deposit back.

Cash is used to ensure acceptance, but so is your word. Legally, cash has no meaning. That does not mean that there are no consequences for not accepting: the seller can hold you to the sale, he can also ask for compensation because there are extra costs for him due to your cancellation. The reasons you mentioned were known to you in advance and are at your expense, in any case do not constitute force majeure.
