I am 17 years old and still receive child benefit. Unfortunately I have not lived with my guardian for 2 months due to personal circumstances my guardian received the child benefit of January but did not deposit it into my account. She put it all in her own pocket. I have never seen any of my child benefit. In any case I would like to know how I can get the money from January back because she no longer cared for me.Lawyer
Dear questioner, a problem is that the child benefit is due to the caregiver and not to the child. If the SVB has paid out wrongly afterwards, the guardian must repay this benefit. It is important where you are currently registered, if that is still your old residential address, the guardian will simply receive the child benefit. I will look into what is possible for you in the course of this day.Questioner
I am still registered at her address but I called the SVB. and they said that my new caregiver could apply for child benefit for me but she could only get it in April. while I was already living with her on November 29, 2012. The SVB then told us that the child benefit from January would still go to my guardian because I live too close to my address where I live now. I think this is completely unfair because now my guardian has money from me to take care of me while I no longer live there. I would like to work on this.Take the next step
