How to make ends meet after termination of spousal support?

Questioner

In two years, the alimony I receive will expire. I have a WAO benefit and I wonder how I will make ends meet if the alimony is no longer available. Is there a possibility of compensation or supplementation of my WAO benefit or something like that/

Lawyer

There is a possibility to use a so-called hardship clause in the law. This applies to so-called dire cases, where there is insufficient opportunity to return to the labour market, such as due to incapacity for work. An extension of the alimony period can be requested. A request in this regard must be submitted via a lawyer no later than three months after termination of the alimony payments. The exact content of the hardship clause is left to the judge.
