Cohabitation contract and sharing equity in home
Questioner
My boyfriend and I have taken out a new mortgage together for a house that he already owned. He had a private mortgage of 5%. Now the mortgage is 2%. He has asked me to leave because he supposedly needs space. We also have a cohabitation contract. The house is now being finished to his wishes and according to our contract I am entitled to 50% of the equity. That has now become a ton. It is not about the money for me. But he cannot just tell me that I can no longer come home? I would like to know what my rights are.Lawyer
I advise you to contact a family law attorney. It is important to have the cohabitation agreement read through carefully and then consider what the most desirable path is. If you are entitled to a portion of the equity, he may have to buy you out. If desired, you can contact him. I have done this kind of case before.Take the next step
