Salary does not match the salary in contract

Questioner

I have a new job where I signed my contract together with the HR manager of the company. Now I got my first salary and here my salary is lower gross/net than what is stated in my contract. I called the company and the lady in question told me that my salary is correct and that what is in the contract is a mistake. It is a difference of €654 gross. Are they allowed to change this?

Lawyer

No, unless the difference is so large/absurd that you yourself should have understood that the amount stated in the employment contract was a mistake. If you know that a mistake has been made, for example if the (verbal) agreement is different, and the employer can prove this, then you may also be at a disadvantage. You should summon the employer to still pay the agreed (higher) salary. If payment is made too late, you can also claim the statutory late payment compensation (and statutory interest). If you want to discuss, you can call without obligation.
