How do I arrange things for my mother with dementia?

Questioner

My mother (93 years old) has been admitted with dementia and I have to arrange her affairs, what should I do to be able to arrange everything. She lived completely independently in a rented house until recently, she fell and broke her hip. She was helped with that but soon it turned out that she could no longer take care of herself, for example she no longer knew how to eat. Initially this seemed to be caused by a bladder infection (several times in a row). She was admitted to the hospital for a second time for this. Here the diagnosis of dementia was finally made. She has not arranged anything regarding the finances other than authorizing me for and/or accounts at the bank. Now her house has to be given up, the mail has to come to me and the finances have to be managed. She signed a power of attorney giving me permission to act. What steps should I take?

If you wish to arrange financial matters for her, you can request the subdistrict court to appoint you as administrator. You must then report to the subdistrict court. I advise you to read further at: https://www.rechtspraak.nl/Onderwerpen/Bewind
