Working on holiday during sickness benefits

Questioner

I am in the first week of my vacation and have to go on sick leave because my muscle in my foot is torn. Now my boss says that if I want to go on sick leave I have to come to work during my vacation to make phone calls so that I don't put any strain on my foot, but I have never heard that you have to come to work during your sick leave, how does that work? My contract expires on September 30, 2021 and I have three courses in Gelland regarding childcare, now a colleague says that if you are registered for the course and you do not want to do it, this is at your own expense. This would mean that I have to pay for three courses from my own salary, is this allowed? I am registered for it but have not taken them yet and indicated before my vacation that I do not want to do the courses this year due to my health that has deteriorated. Do I have consequences if I want to resign regarding the courses. Because a company should be able to say that someone resigned or something else and they get the course back. Thanks in advance!

If you fall ill during your holiday, you should report sick to your employer in the normal way. The sick days will not be deducted from your holiday credit. Assuming that you are incapacitated for work, you will not be able to work and the employer could at most have your incapacity for work assessed by sending you to the company doctor. If he or she believes that you can (indeed) perform certain tasks, you should comply with this. It is not up to the employer to make this assessment himself, since he or she is not a company doctor. Incidentally, I agree with you that you were not obliged to work because you were on holiday. I assume that the employer agreed to this holiday.
