How high can the neighbours' conifer hedge be?
Questioner
My neighbours have a conifer hedge. It is now about 3/3.5 m high and attracts many insects. I would like the neighbor to make it a bit lower. We are having a lot of trouble with flies and wasps and can't sit in the garden in peace. My question is therefore how high can such a hedge actually be?Lawyer
Sometimes a hedge of conifers can be considered a row of trees, in which case it may not be within two metres of the property boundary if it reaches higher than the dividing wall on the property boundary, or two metres. If the hedge is considered a row of plants (shrubs or hedges), it may not be within a zone of 0.50 m and may not reach higher than the dividing wall. In these cases you may demand that the hedge be cut back.Take the next step
