Solar panels on the property line?
Questioner
At the request of our neighbours, we had our solar panels moved because these panels were over the property line. Our panels have now been placed by the neighbour's contractor at some distance from the property line. Because there was later uncertainty about the property line, the land registry eventually recorded the property line. Now, the neighbour's panels are partly exactly on the property line. No permission was given for this in advance, nor was there any consultation. From the public road, it now appears that the neighbour's panels are on our roof. Is the neighbour allowed to place his panels on the property line or should he also stay away from it so that the panels of both parties are at the same distance from the property line. I can send you a copy of the land registry report.Lawyer
Solar panels may be placed up to the property line, but the way they are placed can affect the integrity of the house (design and appearance). In addition, the requirements of aesthetics play a role if these are enforced by your municipality in your area in connection with the view. In fact, there are two areas of law to which you could respond: civil law and environmental law. I can find out more specifically for you whether both or one of the two options gives you the opportunity to demand relocation of your neighbor.
