Problem with dishwasher repair costs
Questioner
Last October I started renting an apartment. It was reported that the dishwasher was broken. A technician came for this, and it turns out that the BUILT-IN dishwasher dates from 1994 and is at the end of its life. It is a specific model which means that the kitchen can no longer be renovated. A built-in dishwasher is considered immovable property within the rented property. Now the landlord is meeting us halfway with a rent reduction of 10 euros for 2 people. The rent was: 1295 excluding annual costs such as water company tax etc. It would then be 647.50 --> 642.50 per month while we would then have to do the dishes twice a day. Is there a specific standard value for dishwasher failure? I look forward to hearing from you.Lawyer
Yes, the standard is that the landlord should have replaced the dishwasher but cannot do so now (or he installs a non-built-in one), he will have to depreciate that value in x time. I think what he proposes is reasonable, the price reduction will be approximately equal to the depreciation.Take the next step
