How do I appeal against a judge's decision?

Questioner

I had to attend a hearing last Friday at the Court of Appeal in Maastricht. Due to a train delay on the track due to storm damage and afterwards a bus driver who did not help me properly, I finally arrived at the hearing an hour and a half late. Result: The doorman at the door said that I was convicted by default, despite the fact that I told him what was going on. I did not get any further than the doorman and had to return home after a trip halfway around the world, without even being able to have my say in court and hand him some papers. I do not agree with this. It is a fine of 100 euros. My question: Can I also appeal this (I have already appealed before because of the case in question, that is also why this hearing). Because after all, it is not my own fault that I was late, it was force majeure. Kind regards,

For this question it is best to contact a lawyer. Depending on the type of case, an appeal may be filed with the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court will not review the case on its merits, but may consider whether the Court of Appeal should have heard the case in your absence, for example. Only a lawyer can initiate proceedings at the Supreme Court. You can, however, appeal the ruling yourself.

Apart from that, an opposition summons is sometimes the way to purge the default, also on appeal. What is this case?
