Stolen trailer
Questioner
On May 15, 2020 at 3:18 PM my rented trailer was stolen, I have camera footage and I have also filed a report. The (trailer) gang was arrested at the time because they were quite active in the area. Since then I have not heard anything from the company where I had rented the trailer. On October 15, I receive a letter on the doormat stating that I have 15 days to claim the amount of 1237.83 euros and otherwise 185.67 extrajudicial collection costs. Could you please give me more advice on what I can do.Lawyer
Theft of a stolen movable property can constitute force majeure if the tenant can prove that he has taken good care of the property. This is difficult to determine based on the data; but if you had known about the gang in your neighbourhood, you might have had to take extra measures. Furthermore, the conditions for consumers cannot quickly extend liability; sometimes a provision must be annulled for this. Is the trailer not insured or are you being approached by the insurer?Take the next step
