How should we divide the floor?
Questioner
After living together with my roommate for almost 2 years, I am moving. The floor that we purchased at the time (at €2000) will remain and she will continue to live in the house with a new roommate. How should we divide the floor? My preference is that she should pay me an amount at this time, her preference is to divide it equally at a later time, when she sells the floor. I do not agree with this because I want to have it settled financially and she will use this floor for a longer period of time, which will reduce its value. We also cannot agree on the value of the floor/the amount that she should pay me. Is there anything legally stipulated about this?Lawyer
Financially, you can better settle it now according to the current value that the floor has now. You can use the values that insurers use for movable property (building insurance) and residual values. There are lists of these on the internet.Take the next step
