What do I need to do to get my money back?

I lent my stepson money to purchase a truck for his profession. The agreement is that he will pay me back 1500 euros per month. This is also in writing. Now he had an accident which resulted in the truck being a total loss. The amount of the damage was transferred to his account. Since then I have not received any money. What can I do to still get the amount?

The fact that the truck is a total loss does not affect the agreement you have with your stepson. There is still 1500 euros to be paid back per month. Depending on the relationship between you and your stepson, you may be able to continue making payments at first. Any other steps: - mutually agree on a (new) arrangement; - request in writing that payments be continued; - seek assistance with collection (lawyer or collection agency); - seek legal assistance to see if a solution can be found; - if all this does not help, prepare a court procedure (with or without a lawyer).
