How can I get my name off a joint account?

My ex and I are getting divorced and we have a joint account. Thanks to my ex, this is €1000.00 in the red and I never use this account anymore. The agreement states that he must top up this account and then cancel it and then close the account. He refuses to do this and I get nothing at the bank when I ask if my name can be removed from that account. What or how should I proceed?

I can imagine that this is a very annoying situation and that you would like to see it resolved. If you agreed in the covenant that your ex must top up and cancel the account, you could demand compliance with this agreement by your ex. Possibly with the help of a lawyer. If no action is taken, you could demand compliance with the agreement in court. In addition, you could try to cancel the joint account in your name at least.
