Disconnecting gas and electricity by landlord
Questioner
We rent a chalet from a private landlord. The rental price includes gas, water and electricity. Now there is talk of 9 days of rent arrears about which we communicated with him in advance. Now today he has asked the park to disconnect electricity and gas without any notice. Is this allowed? We have a standard rental agreement with him via a recognized broker. Is the landlord allowed to disconnect us without notice and what can we do?Lawyer
In almost no case may gas and electricity be disconnected without further ado. What is the title and duration (fixed or indefinite) of your lease? There are different types of leases (residential, commercial, etc.). In addition, it is not reasonable to disconnect gas and electricity if you are 9 days behind on your rent. This means you can no longer make normal use of the chalet. Are you currently staying in the chalet/do you want to stay there in the short term? The landlord can send you a notice of default for paying the rent, but you have also informed the landlord in advance. Does the lease agreement include anything about the situation in which no rent is paid? You can contact me without obligation via my profile to discuss the matter.Take the next step
