Terminate rental agreement
Questioner
I have been renting my home (private sector) for over 6 years now. The landlord wants to increase the rent by more than the permitted 3.3%. I made a counter-proposal. The landlord does not agree with this and terminates the lease because I do not agree with the rent increase. He also says that I have a fixed-term rental contract. In my opinion, he is not allowed to evict me at all and my rental contract has long since been converted into an indefinite-term contract. And he is unlucky because he himself asked for a low rent at the time.Lawyer
Is the rent increase regulated in your contract, you refer to the maximum permitted rent increase (adjusted to purchasing power for the free sector) but is that explicitly stated in the contract? In that case, you should simply refuse the rent increase and leave the situation to the landlord. A fixed-term rental contract may be a maximum of two years, then extended with an indefinite period. Incidentally, it is also possible that you have a fixed-term rental contract longer than two years under the Vacancy Act?Take the next step
