Joint rainwater drainage

My neighbor's shed and ours have a continuous roof with a shared rainwater drain. This rainwater drain goes via my garden to the house and through the crawl space. Now my neighbor has had a canopy built on his shed and the roof construction modified so that all the water from his canopy ends up in the shared rainwater drain. Is this allowed without my permission?
