Unmentioned shipping costs webshop
Questioner
On the XX website, when ordering a lamp, it says: you're lucky, you qualify for free shipping. If you then proceed to pay, €17.50 in shipping costs will be added. This would be because the package is more than 1 m. It is an error on the website that states free shipping. I wonder if they are not obligated to provide free delivery.Lawyer
Under consumer law, you must be informed of the costs of the order before placing the order. This includes the costs of shipping (Article 6:230b BW). So it will depend on how exactly everything is worded in the ordering process. If it is indicated throughout the process that there is free shipping, that is in principle what you are entitled to. This may be different if there is an obvious error and/or you are aware of the actual situation before you place an order.
