Campsite sold to new owner.
Questioner
In February 2021 we bought a new chalet from the owner of the campsite. everything is now ready, tiling, log cabin, party tent, fencing, etc. On Thursday 31-3-2022 we were informed that the campsite has been sold to a French company. On Friday 1-04-2022 we were told by the new owner that we have to get rid of it in 2 years. This is possible, but we have no rights. and what do they owe us if we have to go to another campsite. Of course we have the stuff, but who is going to pay the costs of the new working hours?Lawyer
I can imagine that you are not happy about this at all. It depends on the circumstances of the case what you are/are not entitled to. For example, have certain agreements been made or are certain conditions applicable? Did the owner already know last year that they wanted to sell/were they already in the process of selling? This can be important for assessing your position. If the land under the chalet is not yours, you have less protection than if the land is yours. That does not mean you are left empty-handed.
