Am I responsible for costs when terminating the lease contract?

The leasing company has now postponed the delivery of the car for 'almost' a year due to persistent chip shortages. I initially asked if I could cancel everything free of charge, this was rejected because the leasing company had already made a down payment to the factory. If I cancel the order I have to pay 3 months rent as compensation. Now I want to put the leasing company in default and agree on a definitive delivery date and then terminate the contract. Am I obliged to pay these costs in the event of termination?
