Suddenly a debt collection claim after six years

Questioner

In 2016 I sent a GBA to a payment company to prove that I had never been to an address. Between April 2016 and April 2022 I have heard absolutely nothing. No email, phone call or letter. In April 2022, I suddenly received an email from a debt collection agency out of the blue asking me to pay. This is a mobile subscription, where the number, account number and address are of my ex. The registration was in my name. I asked them for proof on 4/22/2022 and indicated that this was an expired collection. Today I get an email that they sent me a text message. Which I did not receive. How is it possible that after 6 years, during which I have never been emailed or called, I suddenly receive a claim? I would like to know what my rights and obligations are in this

It is very sensible that you have invoked a limitation period in this case. Apparently the text message is intended to indicate that the limitation period would have been interrupted. You can indicate that you have never had this and that you yourself have never taken out this mobile subscription. If they still persist in the sense that you are summoned, then it is sensible to hire a lawyer who can assist you in this. Only with a judgment can they actually take enforcement measures such as, for example, seizing property. However, I doubt whether they will proceed to do so with what you have stated. However, if that is the case, then you can contact them if you wish.
