How do I deal with quitting my job during burnout?

Questioner

I worked as a third-year dual nursing student in the hospital. During the 7 months that I worked there, I did not receive any guidance during acute situations and no support from colleagues or supervisors where necessary as a third-year student, I felt that I provided unsafe care during cooperating services and also felt unsafe as a student. As a result, I ended up at home with burnout. I would like to move forward, but I no longer feel safe in the hospital. Through intermediaries, I ended up at a home care organization where I can complete my studies. Because I do not want to burden my current employer with my illness, I have decided to resign. Also because I want to move forward as quickly as possible. My current employer has paid for my study costs, what can I expect during my dismissal interview?

What you can expect during the dismissal interview is difficult to estimate. That will be up to the (ex)employer. If you want to prepare yourself, you can of course always ask the (ex)employer in advance about what the agenda of the interview will be. Terminating the employment contract during illness (disability) is unwise if you want to claim benefits afterwards (which I do not assume). There is a chance that it will be rejected because you yourself have terminated the contract. Furthermore, it is not clear to me to what extent the home care organization is aware of your disability (assuming that this is still the case). You never have to provide medical data, which is confidential, but under certain circumstances it can entail (some) risks if this is not reported in advance.
