How to recalculate child support?

Questioner

My husband got divorced in April 2010. The alimony for his daughters (born in 2005 and 1996) and son (2000) was then set at 135.00 p/m. In 2011, the alimony was set to zero due to my husband's debt restructuring, which took 5 years. In 2019, my husband was approached by a lawyer for his ex-wife (there has been almost no contact between my husband and his children during that time) and summoned to pay 300.00 per month for his minor daughter. He has paid this properly so far. We have looked at the calculation again and wonder if this amount is correct. We want to pay in any case, but we would like to have the amount recalculated. Is this possible? And is this possible without his ex-wife being involved in the first instance? We have the file from 2019 in which her income etc. is stated, but we do not know if this is still the case.

Lawyer

The LBIO can perform a recalculation at a lower cost (between 50 and 75 euros I believe). They will also request the current details of the ex-partner. A lawyer can also perform a recalculation for you and, if necessary, submit a request to the court to reduce child support. This may be possible on the basis of subsidized legal aid. In that case, the income will have to fall within the legally established limits. You may also have legal aid insurance that will reimburse the costs of the lawyer in such a procedure. If desired, you can contact us.
