Refusing authority and cohabitation with new partner

Questioner

Hello, my daughter's father has only acknowledged her. (She just turned 2) Can he get custody without my permission? He uses weed and alcohol, is unstable and I have proof of this. My 2nd question.. if I move in with my new partner. Will this have negative consequences for possible lawsuits? About custody & co-parenting? Which he would like, but I don't. The arrangement is now every Wednesday and every other weekend with the father.

Lawyer

If the father has acknowledged the child, he can apply for joint parental authority at the court, but he needs your permission for this. If you do not give permission, he can apply for substitute permission at the judge. The judge will then consider whether the father's authority is in the best interest of the child. Furthermore, living together with your new partner has no effect on any legal proceedings that may take place for authority and co-parenthood.
