How do I cancel the purchase of a car?

Questioner

We bought a second-hand car privately via NAME SITE with 130,000 km on the counter, but the car turned out to have defects from day 1 and a total check-up this week showed that the engine AND the gearbox have been broken (for some time). This repair would cost us €4,500.00, while we paid around €2,750.00 for the car. In the advertisement, the sellers stated that it was a neat car, with only some paint damage... But unfortunately this turned out not to be the case. We have already sent several messages and a registered letter to the seller to be able to cancel the purchase, but unfortunately this has not been responded to. Do you perhaps have any advice for us on what we can best do now and how we can tackle this in order to cancel the purchase?

You can cancel the purchase through the court and claim your money back. I have successfully dealt with such issues before. Of course, all facts and circumstances play a role in the outcome. You can contact us without obligation to discuss the case (tel. 06-49175526) Kind regards, Silvienne Leito FerLei Legal
