Cancellation of contractor agreement in case of non-compliance?

Last Friday I was told that the contractor cannot start the renovation (bathroom) because the hired tiler is no longer present. He does not think he can solve it in the short term for this job, which was supposed to start on Monday 13 November. Can I cancel the job now? Can I look for a contractor who can do it next week?
