How do I get my minor son's belongings back?

Questioner

My son left for the Netherlands last year to study and my sister indicated that he could live with her. I paid her €150 per month. Her husband kicked my son out after 3 months. Now his belongings such as wardrobe, desk, office chair and Vliermaal are still there. What should I do if she refuses to give them back or in the worst case has thrown them away? I have all the proof of the money I transferred

Your son must reclaim his property. This starts with sending a formal notice (registered) to your sister and her husband, setting a reasonable period to return the property or to enable your son to collect the property. It can also be stated that if this does not happen, or if this is no longer possible, your sister and her husband will be liable for the damage (in this case the value of the property). The tricky part in this type of case is of course the possibility of providing proof that certain property was with your sister and her husband and that these property are the property of your son. This can of course be disputed by your sister and her husband. Your son may contact them without obligation to discuss his case (06-30575754).
