Application forwarded to today's employer

Questioner

I work as a security guard in a control room of a casino. I thought it would be fun to work in the casino and some employees of the casino encouraged me to apply. I applied 3 times for different positions there and 1 time in another place. I was rejected every time and when I got sick, just because I was really sick. The casino told my current employer of the security, that I am probably sick because I applied 8 or 9 times and was rejected every time. Does the casino, to which I have been given the right by the security company, to pass this on to my current employer? I personally find this really unacceptable.

The casino has not acted properly here. Job applications should be handled discreetly. Furthermore, as probably happened, no untruths should be spread. You could file a complaint with the (head office of the) casino. The casino should respond properly. A proper response seems to me to include an apology and the untruths that were spread being corrected. In fact, in my opinion, they have also acted unlawfully. In principle, the damage caused as a result could be claimed, but it is very difficult to determine in this case whether damage has been suffered and in what amount. The causal link with the casino's actions must also be demonstrated, which can also be quite a challenge.
