Notice period for rent
Questioner
I pay the rent per month and have terminated my lease as of February 1, 2023 so that I am rent-free as of March 1. Now the landlord wants to receive an additional month's rent from me and I do not agree with that. Can you advise me?Lawyer
Good morning, In principle, the notice period is 1 month. It is not sufficiently clear from your situation description what the conditions in the rental agreement (and/or the general terms and conditions) are. For this, all documents must first be reviewed. If there is a notice period of one month and you can also terminate legally (this therefore depends on what is stated in the rental agreement), you only have to pay 1 month's rent. For example, is it clear why the landlord is asking you for an extra month? If you wish to discuss your file in more detail, please feel free to contact us without obligation.
