Should manufacturers be held liable after a house fire caused by a new product?
Questioner
Last week a fire broke out in my home because of a 1.5 year old AEG washing machine. I had purchased an extended warranty with it. All contents are covered by my insurance. Can I still sue AEG for injury (stress etc.) and emotional damage? All my belongings with emotional value are broken and I experience a lot of stress and anxiety since it happened. I would like to know what action can be taken and what is customary in terms of compensation in this situation.Lawyer
Good afternoon, In principle, you can hold the manufacturer liable, but also the seller of the product, if it concerns a company (consumer purchase). The immaterial damage must be well substantiated in order to qualify for compensation. If you wish to discuss your case, please feel free to contact us without obligation. Gr, Mr. Mr. S.
