Registering two rental properties in your name?

Questioner

I am currently renting a home in municipality X. This is private rental. My parents have been looking for a suitable home in the same municipality for an extremely long time. Now I have been offered a home in this municipality by another private landlord. Can I also rent this home (so keep my own home) and have my parents register with me?

There is no rule per se that would prevent someone from renting more than 1 house privately. There are, for example, rules that require you to register at the address where you spend most of your time. What is important are the rules from the rental contract and any (general) rental conditions. Often it states that there may be no subletting, or that the tenant must have his/her main residence in the home. You could then be in breach of the agreement, with the result that the landlord would want to terminate/cancel the contract. If these rules are not in the contract or the terms, you could sublet the property to your parents. Sometimes it is also possible to guarantee someone else's rental agreement. In that case, your parents could be the contractual tenants of the landlord, with you guaranteeing the rent. Then there is also no question of subletting or two rental properties in your name.
