Pay child support if my daughter lives with me?

Questioner

I am divorced and the two minor daughters came under the care of my ex-wife. A judge has determined the amount of child support and I have always paid that to my ex-wife. Six months ago my youngest daughter turned 18 and she recently indicated that she wanted to live with me and no longer at home with her mother. She is of course very welcome and in the meantime she lives at my home. Since my daughter turned 18, I have been transferring child support to her bank account. Ask: If my 18 year old daughter lives with me, am I still obliged to pay maintenance for her until she turns 21?

Lawyer

You are the custodial parent, which means your ex-partner will have to pay child support. Because your daughter is eighteen, she will have to make separate agreements about support in mutual consultation with you and your ex-partner. If your daughter would like to have a recalculation made in connection with the changed circumstances, she can contact 0800 822 4433 or send an email to info@echtscheidingswinkel.nl
