Explanation of beneficial acceptance of inheritance

My father has just passed away and his girlfriend has emptied the accounts and also removed all the stuff from the house. Now we don't want to be left with debts and we are thinking about accepting the inheritance under benefit of inventory, but it is not entirely clear to me what the conditions are in this.
