Arrange an executor or accept under benefit of inventory?

Questioner

If my mother dies, can we arrange everything ourselves or is it important to arrange an executor? She has no savings, valuables or debts. She is underinsured for the funeral. We also wonder whether it is possible and sensible to accept under benefit of inventory if it turns out that there is not enough money to pay the rent, energy consumption, etc. after death. We cannot pay it ourselves either.

Lawyer

Appointing an executor - testamentary usually involves costs. You can also employ yourself to arrange everything. If one is uninsured for the funeral, these costs are passed on to the heirs. In the case of beneficiary acceptance, these costs are for the municipality or the state. It is up to you. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Greetings, Mr. Groenewegen, J.
