Legal Assistance for Car Purchase Problems

Questioner

I bought a car on February 15, 2013. After 350 km (on the way to France), a yellow warning light came on, indicating an engine malfunction. I called the garage where I bought the car and explained what was wrong, and they told me to take the car back for repairs. When I drove back to the Netherlands, I noticed the warning light was no longer on. To be safe, I went to the garage anyway to explain what was happening, and the owner said I was entitled to a three-month warranty. So, if the warning light came on again, I could take the car to them for repairs. I drove another 350 km, and the warning light came on again. I think it's a hidden defect. Can I still get a refund and cancel the agreement on February 25?

Questioner

Dear questioner, No, that's not possible. The garage owner must repair or replace the defect free of charge in accordance with the agreement and the warranty terms.
